Hydraulic control

Unlike conventional spring-only systems, Recoil Reaper uses hydraulic damping to manage slide movement and produce a more balanced recoil cycle.

Smoother. The sealed hydraulic core softens the sharp impact common in spring-only recoil systems.
Steadier. Controlled slide movement helps reduce muzzle and sight disruption during the recoil cycle.
Faster. A more balanced cycle helps the sights return sooner for controlled follow-up shots.

Fitment guide

Choose the right Recoil Reaper.

Recoil Reaper is available in Commander and Full Size configurations. These names describe the length of the recoil system and do not guarantee compatibility with every pistol marketed under the same size designation.

Barrel length is the starting point—not the entire fitment test. Your pistol must also use compatible guide-rod, recoil-spring and reverse-plug geometry.

4.25″–4.6″ configurations

Commander Length

For compatible 1911, 2011 and double-stack 1911 pistols with a 4.25″–4.6″ barrel and slide configuration.

  • 1911, 2011 or double-stack 1911 architecture
  • 4.25″–4.6″ barrel and slide configuration
  • Compatible guide-rod and reverse-plug geometry
  • Visible and accessible reverse plug

5″ Government configuration

Full Size

For compatible 1911, 2011 and double-stack 1911 pistols with a 5″ Government-length barrel and slide configuration.

  • 1911, 2011 or double-stack 1911 architecture
  • 5″ Government-length barrel and slide
  • Compatible full-size guide-rod and reverse-plug geometry
  • Visible and accessible reverse plug

  • 1911, 2011 or double-stack 1911 platform
  • Caliber
  • Barrel and slide length
  • Current guide-rod design
  • Reverse-plug style and accessibility
  • Compensated or non-compensated configuration

Not compatible with

Recoil Reaper is not intended for:

  • Pistols shorter than 4.25″
  • Striker-fired handguns
  • Non-1911/2011 operating systems
  • Incompatible captive or proprietary recoil assemblies
  • Configurations that obstruct reverse-plug access

Important: Pistols with the same advertised barrel length may use different guide-rod heads, spring lengths, reverse plugs and internal dimensions. Some compatible pistols may require minor fitting. If you are not comfortable performing the work, consult a qualified gunsmith.
