GETTING STARTED

Registration is not required to activate your lifetime warranty. However, by registering your firearm through the Jacob Grey Optic Adapter Plate Claim Program, you’ll receive a free optic adapter plate, an extra magazine, and a Jacob Grey hat. To register, simply scan the QR code found on the postcard included in your firearm’s packaging. This will take you directly to the claim processing form.

Yes. At Jacob Grey, we fully CNC-machine nearly every component of our firearms to exacting standards for precision and performance. Because of this level of manufacturing consistency, we recommend a break-in period of approximately 200 rounds of high-quality ammunition to allow components to properly wear in and ensure reliable, consistent functioning

Your Jacob Grey firearm was test fired and cleaned prior to shipping, so it is not required to clean it before initial use. However, we do recommend field stripping and inspecting your firearm prior to use to become familiar with its operation and ensure everything is properly lubricated and assembled.

All Jacob Grey models share the same frame, internal components, and optics-ready platform — but each one brings its own finish and features.

  • TWC9: Our streamlined base model. Includes a smoother grip texture, stainless steel barrel, mainspring pin, and grip screws, plus a clear-anodized trigger shoe.
  • TWC Black: Adds a black nitride barrel, black nitride hardware, and a black skeletonized trigger for a more unified, tactical look.
  • Hex: Features slide porting, a DLC-coated barrel, pinned grip safety, redesigned trigger shoe, and multiple color options.

Whether you’re going minimalist or fully featured, each model is built for the same level of performance. Let us know if you want help picking the right one for your setup.

Thank you for your service to this country and your communities. We truly appreciate you. Currently we use VerifyNow to assist with discounts on our website. You can find this located here:

FITMENT & COMPATIBLITY

All models use the same optics system and come standard with an RMR footprint plate and a cover plate. We also support RMSc, ACRO, and DeltaPoint Pro footprints through our Optic Plate Program.

RMR-compatible optics:

  • Trijicon RMR, RMR HD, SRO
  • Holosun 507C, 508T
  • Swampfox Justice, Kingslayer

RMSc-compatible optics:

  • Holosun 507K, EPS Carry
  • Shield RMSc
  • Swampfox Sentinel
  • ZeroTech Thrive HD Micro Reflex

Need a plate for a non-RMR optic?

Learn about our Optic Plate Program here

⚠️ The Holosun 509T can technically mount using its included adapter on our RMR plate, but we don’t recommend stacking plates due to stability concerns. The Trijicon RCR is currently unsupported.

Lights

Jacob Grey handguns are equipped with standard Picatinny-style accessory rails, allowing easy attachment of a wide variety of popular weapon lights. The SureFire X300, Streamlight TLR-1, TLR-7, and HL/X series are all confirmed to fit securely on our rails without modification.

Because frame dimensions are tightly controlled across our lineup, any light designed for universal Picatinny mounts should fit without issue. Just be sure the model you choose isn't designed exclusively for compact or subcompact pistols.

If you're planning to run a light with a holster, we strongly recommend checking with the holster manufacturer to confirm light-bearing compatibility with the Jacob Grey frame. Many custom Kydex makers, including BlackPoint and QVO Tactical, offer molded options that accommodate common light models.

Need help choosing the right setup? Just reach out — we’ll point you in the right direction.

Holsters

We offer a selection of BlackPoint Tactical holsters for both the original TWC9 (rounded trigger guard) and the TWC Black / Hex (squared guard). For more styles, visit their site and select “Jacob Grey TWC9” or “TWC Black” to have a holster built to fit.

You can also use QVO Tactical’s “Other 2011” holsters, which are compatible with the TWC line. Retention may need minor adjustment. QVO offers a wide range of prints, overlays, and light-bearing options.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Cycling and Feeding

This is often caused by underpowered or steel-cased ammunition, magazine fit, or insufficient lubrication. Ensure your firearm is clean and properly lubed, and test with quality brass-cased ammo. If issues persist, contact us.

This can occur during break-in or due to ammo fit, extractor tension, or carbon buildup. Clean the barrel hood and feed ramp thoroughly and confirm you're using factory-spec ammo.

This usually points to follower geometry or the slide stop being engaged by recoil. Try a different magazine and inspect the slide stop.

Check extractor tension and cleanliness. Excessive fouling or spring wear can also impact ejection.

This can be happen before or during the break in period. Make sure the firearm is properly lubricated. Contact us if issues persist.

Carbon buildup in the firing pin channel or a worn firing pin spring may cause this. Clean thoroughly and contact us if the issue continues.

TWC pistols are compatible with most 2011-style mags, but fit can vary. Checkmate and Atlas are preferred. Debris in the magwell or tolerance differences can affect retention.

Controls and Safeties

Minor play can be normal, but excessive movement may indicate wear or a fitment issue. Contact us for inspection or replacement options.

Some resistance is expected, but extremes may require minor fitting or replacement. Reach out and we can assist.

Fitment/Assembly Concerns

Our pistols are fit tightly from the factory. A bit of play after break-in is expected, but excess movement or binding warrants inspection.

Surface wear marks on components can happen during usage and does not affect function. If you see deep gouges, send us a photo.

This may indicate spring wear or misalignment. We can help verify fit and send replacements if necessary.

Optic Plates and Mounting

Some optics sit lower in the plate than others. We may suggest a shim or a different plate depending on your optic.

We offer replacement hardware kits. Contact us if you're unable to remove or reinstall the plate.

This may be optic-dependent. Shims or alternate plates are available for some setups.

This is usually an optic issue, not firearm-related. Make sure the optic is sealed and mounted properly.

Maintenance and Wear

We typically recommend starting with 115gr 9mm, as it’s a great balance between recoil control and cycling reliability in the TWC platform. However, you may want to experiment with both 124gr and 147gr loads to see what feels best for your shooting style and recoil preference.

We recommend replacing the recoil spring and firing pin spring every 3,000–5,000 rounds to maintain peak performance. The mainspring is built for long-term use and typically lasts 25,000+ rounds under normal conditions.

If you shoot frequently or use hotter loads like +P ammo, you may need to replace springs more often. Staying ahead on spring maintenance helps ensure smooth cycling and consistent reliability.

Use a non-abrasive brush and CLP-style cleaner. Focus on the feed ramp, breech face, and slide internals.

The TWC9 "likes to run wet" and we recommend the Lucas Extreme Duty Gun Oil.

Normal in high-friction contact areas. If you suspect deeper wear, send a photo and we’ll take a look.

Some wear-in is normal. If you experience new function issues, we’ll evaluate the cause.

Tension may soften over time. If you notice inconsistent ejection, we can evaluate and replace the extractor or spring if needed.
