Getting Started

Do I need to register my firearm for warranty coverage?

No. Registration is not required to activate the Jacob Grey lifetime warranty.

The QR code included in your firearm packaging opens the Optic Adapter Plate Claim Program for eligible models and available owner benefits.

Is there a break-in period?

Yes. Because Jacob Grey CNC-machines components to precise tolerances, we recommend a break-in period of approximately 200 rounds of high-quality ammunition to allow the components to wear in and function consistently.

Do I need to clean my firearm before its first use?

Your Jacob Grey firearm was test-fired and cleaned before shipping, so cleaning is not required before initial use.

We recommend field-stripping and inspecting it before use so you are familiar with its operation and can confirm it is properly lubricated and assembled.

Where can I compare current Jacob Grey handgun models?

Features and availability vary by model. Visit the Jacob Grey handgun lineup for the latest configurations and product specifications.

Do you offer military, veteran, law-enforcement, or first-responder discounts?

Yes. Qualified customers can verify eligibility and access the current offer through the Jacob Grey Individual Officer Purchase Program, powered by VerifyPass.

Fitment & Compatibility

Are Jacob Grey handgun barrels interchangeable with other 1911 or 2011 platforms?

No. Jacob Grey DLC-coated and black-nitride match-grade bull barrels are proprietary and are not interchangeable with other 1911 or 2011 platforms.

Can I install an aftermarket magazine well?

Jacob Grey handguns use proprietary external magazine-well geometry and are not compatible with aftermarket magazine-well enhancements.

Will an aftermarket slide stop fit?

Many slide stops made for double-stack 1911-style firearms may fit directly, while others require fitting. Extended slide stops do not fit without modification.

Which magazines work with Jacob Grey handguns?

Jacob Grey handguns work with some double-stack 1911 or 2011 magazines. Jacob Grey recommends Check-Mate and Atlas magazines. Fitment and reliability can vary by brand.

Can I use an aftermarket slide assembly?

Jacob Grey slide-to-frame fit is a defining part of the platform. Although some aftermarket slides may physically fit, Jacob Grey cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of an aftermarket slide on a Jacob Grey frame.

Will aftermarket safety selectors work?

Some aftermarket safety selectors may work but can require fitting to the handgun. Contact Jacob Grey before ordering if you need help confirming compatibility.

Are Jacob Grey grip modules compatible with standard 1911 or 2011 frames?

No. Jacob Grey handguns use a proprietary grip module that is not cross-compatible with standard 1911 or double-stack 1911/2011 frames.

Can I install a standard 1911 or 2011 trigger?

No. Jacob Grey handguns use the patent-pending CRT™ Controlled Radius Trigger system, which is not cross-compatible with off-the-shelf 1911/2011 triggers.

Optics & Plate Program

How does the Optic Adapter Plate Claim Program work?

Eligible Jacob Grey handguns include an RMR-footprint optic plate. For eligible TWC9, TWC Black, and Hex models, the claim program lets the owner request the additional supported plate configuration they need.

Scan the QR code included with the firearm to open the claim form and make your selection.

Which models qualify for additional adapter plates?

The additional-plate claim program applies to eligible TWC9, TWC Black, and Hex models.

Nox 9, Hex Pro, and Nox 9 Limited configurations use their model-specific factory optic system. Separately sold TWC/Hex adapter plates should not be assumed compatible with these newer models.

What is included with an optic plate claim?
  • No additional plate needed: Complete the form to receive the currently listed magazine and Jacob Grey hat benefit.
  • One plate selected: Receive the selected plate, a Jacob Grey hat, and a sticker pack.
  • Two or more plates selected: Receive the selected adapter plates without promotional extras.

No substitutions are available. Review the claim form for the latest program terms.

Which optic footprints are supported by the eligible TWC/Hex plate system?
  • RMR: Trijicon RMR, RMR HD, SRO, Holosun 507C/508T, and other compatible optics.
  • RMSc: Shield RMS/RMSc, Holosun 507K, EPS Carry, and other compatible compact optics.
  • DeltaPoint Pro: Leupold DPP and compatible systems.
  • ACRO: Enclosed-emitter options such as the Aimpoint ACRO P-2 and Steiner MPS.
Where can I find optic plate installation instructions?

Use the official optic adapter plate installation guide before installing the plate, fasteners, or optic.

Does Jacob Grey recommend stacking an optic adapter on top of its plate?

No. Although some optic-supplied adapters may appear functional when stacked on a Jacob Grey plate, the extra interfaces and increased optic height are not recommended for long-term stability or optimal performance.

04 / Service

Warranty & Service

What is covered by the Jacob Grey warranty?

Jacob Grey firearms and receivers sold as new are covered by a lifetime repair or replacement warranty from the date of first retail sale. Warranty repairs or replacements are determined by Jacob Grey Firearms, and proof of purchase may be required.

Review the complete Jacob Grey warranty guide for current terms.

What is not covered by warranty?

Examples include normal wear, cosmetic wear that does not affect function, misuse, neglect, corrosion, improper maintenance, unsuitable ammunition, unauthorized alterations, aftermarket modifications, and damage caused by improper optic installation or hardware.

The complete exclusions are listed in the warranty policy.

How do I start a warranty or service request?

Use the Contact Us form and include your serial number, a clear description of the issue, and photos when applicable. Jacob Grey will provide an RMA if the return is approved.

Do not return a product without an RMA number.

How long do repairs take?

Typical repair time is approximately 10–14 business days after the firearm is received. Holidays, parts availability, or more complex repairs may add time.

05 / Purchasing

Orders & Dealers

Products are available directly through Jacob Grey and through its dealer network. Use the dealer locator to find a location near you.

How long is the order lead time?

In-stock items generally ship within 1–3 business days. Firearm timing depends on availability and backorder status when the order is placed. Some orders ship quickly, while others may take up to six weeks.

Contact Jacob Grey for the latest availability on a specific configuration. Custom work and upgrades have separate timelines.

Holsters & Accessories

Which RMR-footprint optics are listed as compatible?
  • Trijicon RMR, RMR HD, and SRO
  • Holosun 507C and 508T
  • Swampfox Justice and Kingslayer

Confirm the exact firearm model and plate before ordering an optic.

Which RMSc-footprint optics are listed as compatible?
  • Holosun 507K
  • Shield RMSc
  • Swampfox Sentinel
  • ZeroTech Thrive HD Micro Reflex

Use the correct RMSc plate for an eligible handgun model.

Which weapon lights fit Jacob Grey handguns?

Jacob Grey handguns use a standard Picatinny-style accessory rail. The SureFire X300 and Streamlight TLR-1, TLR-7, and HL/X series are listed as confirmed fits.

Universal Picatinny-mounted lights should generally fit, but avoid models designed exclusively for compact or subcompact pistols. Confirm light-bearing holster compatibility with the holster manufacturer.

Which holsters fit Jacob Grey handguns?

Holster fitment depends on the handgun and trigger-guard profile. The original TWC9 uses a rounded trigger guard, while TWC Black and Hex use a squared profile.

Jacob Grey works with holster manufacturers including TACRIG, BlackPoint, QVO Tactical, Four Brothers, Black Scorpion Gear, and Alpha Omega. You can also browse Jacob Grey holsters.

Troubleshooting

Safety first: Before inspection, cleaning, or maintenance, unload and clear the firearm and remove ammunition from the work area. If you are unsure about a condition or the problem continues, stop using the firearm and contact Jacob Grey.

My pistol is jamming or failing to feed.

Common causes include underpowered or steel-cased ammunition, magazine fit, or insufficient lubrication. Confirm the firearm is clean and properly lubricated, then test with quality brass-cased ammunition. If the issue continues, contact Jacob Grey.

My slide is not going fully into battery.

This can occur during break-in or because of ammunition fit, extractor tension, or carbon buildup. Clean the barrel hood and feed ramp and confirm you are using factory-spec ammunition. Contact support if the problem continues.

The slide locks open before the magazine is empty.

This can point to magazine follower geometry or the slide stop being engaged during recoil. Try a known-compatible magazine and inspect the slide stop. Contact support if the condition continues.

The pistol is not ejecting spent cases properly.

Extractor tension, fouling, or spring wear can affect ejection. Confirm the firearm is clean. If ejection remains inconsistent, contact Jacob Grey for evaluation.

The slide feels tight or sticks when I rack it.

This can occur before or during the break-in period. Confirm the firearm is properly lubricated and contact Jacob Grey if the issue continues.

I am experiencing light primer strikes.

Carbon buildup in the firing-pin channel or a worn firing-pin spring may contribute to light strikes. Clean the firearm according to the manual and contact support if the issue continues.

My magazine does not drop free or lock in cleanly.

Fit can vary among 2011-style magazines. Check-Mate and Atlas are preferred. Debris in the magazine well or dimensional differences between magazine brands can affect retention.

The thumb safety feels loose, stiff, or too easy to engage.

Minor play or some resistance can be normal. Excessive movement or unusually high or low engagement force may require fitting or inspection. Contact Jacob Grey for assistance.

The slide-to-frame fit feels unusual.

Jacob Grey pistols are fit tightly at the factory. Some wear-in is expected, but excessive movement or binding should be inspected by Jacob Grey.

I see surface marks on the firearm.

Normal use can create wear marks in high-contact areas without affecting function. If you see deep gouges or suspect more than normal wear, send Jacob Grey a clear photo.

The recoil spring plug or guide rod feels loose.

This may indicate spring wear or misalignment. Contact Jacob Grey so the team can verify fit and recommend the correct next step.

My optic is maxed out on elevation or the pistol still shoots low.

Some optics sit lower in the plate than others, and available correction depends on the optic and plate system. Read Understanding Optic Fitment on Jacob Grey Handguns or contact support before adding shims or changing hardware.

My optic plate screws are stripped.

Jacob Grey offers replacement hardware kits. If you cannot safely remove or reinstall the plate, stop and contact support for assistance.

My optic is fogging.

Fogging is generally related to the optic rather than the firearm. Confirm the optic is sealed and mounted correctly, then consult the optic manufacturer if needed.

I cannot get my optic plate mounted.

Stop before forcing the plate or fasteners. Review the installation guide and video. If the plate still will not mount, contact Jacob Grey.

I am shooting low with iron sights at close distance.

Shots can impact below the point of aim at close distance because the bullet has not yet intersected the sight line. Jacob Grey handguns are factory-zeroed for approximate point-of-aim/point-of-impact alignment at 15 yards.

If impact remains significantly or inconsistently low at 15 yards or farther, contact support.

What ammunition should I use?

For the TWC platform, Jacob Grey recommends beginning with quality 115-grain 9mm ammunition as a balance of recoil control and cycling reliability. You may also test quality 124-grain and 147-grain loads to determine what performs best in your configuration.

How often should recoil and firing-pin springs be replaced?

Jacob Grey recommends replacing the recoil spring and firing-pin spring every 3,000–5,000 rounds to maintain performance. The mainspring typically lasts 25,000 rounds or more under normal use.

High round counts or frequent use of hotter loads such as +P ammunition may require more frequent replacement.

How should I clean and lubricate my Jacob Grey handgun?

Use a non-abrasive brush and a CLP-style cleaner, focusing on the feed ramp, breech face, and slide internals. Jacob Grey recommends Lucas Extreme Duty Gun Oil for lubrication and notes that its 2011-style pistols prefer generous lubrication.

Is cosmetic wear around the ejection port or barrel hood normal?

Wear in high-friction contact areas is normal. If the wear appears unusually deep or you are concerned about function, send Jacob Grey a clear photo for evaluation.

Can tolerances or extractor tension change with a high round count?

Some wear-in is normal, and extractor tension may soften over extended use. If you experience a new function issue or inconsistent ejection, Jacob Grey can evaluate the firearm and recommend service.

Upgrades & Custom Work

Does Jacob Grey offer custom fitment services?

Trigger tuning, extractor adjustment, and safety refitting may be available upon request. Contact Jacob Grey with your firearm model and requested work for current availability.

Can I add ACRO, DeltaPoint Pro, or RMSc compatibility?

Eligible TWC9, TWC Black, and Hex owners can request supported plate options through the Optic Adapter Plate Claim Program. Compatibility varies by firearm model, so confirm your exact model before selecting or purchasing a plate.

Does Jacob Grey offer slide or barrel porting?

Porting is not currently offered in-house. Jacob Grey identifies DSC Gunworks as a third-party provider that has performed porting work on TWC models. Contact the provider directly to confirm current services and compatibility.
