Where It All Began
Jacob "Jake" Brackett grew up surrounded by the hum of machines in his father’s machine shop. Precision, problem-solving, and pride in every cut were values passed down to him from an early age.
Those lessons shaped not only Jake’s skill but his belief that design, engineering and CNC machining is as much an art as it is a science.
By the time Jake purchased his first machine, he wasn’t just building parts — he was carrying on a family legacy.

From Aerospace to Firearms
Before founding Jacob Grey Firearms, Jake served as General Manager at a tool and die manufacturer working with clients like Porsche, Chevrolet, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin. In that role, he built a reputation in aerospace machining — a field demanding absolute precision and reliability.
That expertise inspired him to launch Jacob Grey Precision Machining and Jacob Grey Custom, where he crafted several high-end, one-of-a-kind 1911 pistols — each reflecting his uncompromising standards and drive to push beyond traditional machining.
A Turning Point in Japan

One of Jake’s defining moments was traveling to Japan to meet Mr. Makino, founder of the world-renowned Makino, one of the world's most advanced 5-Axis CNC machining centers. There he purchased his first Makino — a decision that transformed his shop and laid the foundation for Jacob Grey Firearms. That machine still stands as the symbol of when Jake’s vision came to life: blending heritage with innovation to create something entirely his own.

The Birth of Jacob Grey Firearms
With decades of machining experience and a passion for pushing boundaries, Jake launched Jacob Grey Firearms. The mission was clear: combine aerospace-grade engineering with American firearm tradition to create pistols that deliver uncompromising performance.
Today, every Jacob Grey pistol represents not just cutting-edge design, but Jake’s lifelong journey through machines, metal, and mastery.

The People Behind the Pistols
At Jacob Grey, we’re not a massive factory, and we don’t rely on call centers or outside contractors. We’re a close-knit team of just fifteen — machinists, assemblers, customer service, and leadership — working side by side under Jake’s vision.
Many of us are literally family, connected by blood as well as by mission. The rest have become family through the work we share, the challenges we’ve solved, and the pride we take in building firearms the right way.
When you pick up a Jacob Grey pistol, you’re holding the result of a dozen people’s dedication — from machining to assembly, from answering the phones to boxing your order. That’s what makes us different.
